Well we made it to Omaha. We rented a spot for rv’s at the Horseshoe Casino in Council Bluff, Iowa. It’s just across the bridge from Omaha, NE. It’s basic, no frills in a parking lot. There’s water and electric, so we are good. I booked it for 3 nights, so we can visit with Rick and have some down-time to get a few things done. Chris and family will be meeting us at Rick’s in the morning, as they’re going to drive all night and want to be in Missouri Valley Iowa later tomorrow. We settled in for the night and Rob was out like a light. I, however, was awake until midnight. Do y’all remember the movie My Cousin Vinny with Ralph Machine and Joe Pesci? Remember how he had to keep moving because of the noise, one night being a train? Well, I must’ve heard 6 trains pass by last night lol. Too bad I paid up for 3 nights, or we’d find someplace else. Lots of traffic noise too as it’s near the freeway. Note to self, do not come back and stay at the casino.
5/18/2025 Met up with Chris and Marissa and the grands this morning about 830am. He hadn’t seen Uncle Rick in 20 years, since he was 15. They stayed about an hour with Chris and Rick catching up and Rob and I playing with the kids outside. Then, they went on their way and we headed to go play Top Golf. When we got back, Rob dug out his hole hog and I grabbed it to start drilling holes in a stump Rick wants to salt to get rid of. It was a challenge and required moving a bunch of heavy totes out of the way just to get to it. I turned it over to let Rick give it a whirl and ran to Walmart for a few thing’s we’re low on. None of us seemed to remember that we are all in our 50’s until later, when we all started whining about how sore and stiff we were lol.
5/19/2025 Got up with the plan to fix or replace the windshield wiper motor. We had a downpour here last night. I slept like a baby. Rob couldn’t sleep. Then he ran into issues getting the motor out. He checked the connection and found that there was power all the way up to where it plugs into the we motor. Apparently the motor is “splined” only the bracket. We went to several different places to find the motor. The guy at the last place offered to sell be some rope to tie on the wiper blades….so we can pull them from the windows!! The plug was wrong on the motor we DID find that’ll work, so we will have to spice the old connector on but it’ll work. Rick came by for a couple hours. We had leftovers for dinner, showered and went to bed. We plan to get to Missouri tomorrow. We did NOT get the wiper motor installed. We will do that in Missouri, so hope and pray for no rain tomorrow. We’re expecting another shower here tonight but it should clear up by morning. I bought some Rainex just in case! For the record, I hate trains! I must’ve taken 6 detours and turned around twice because there was a train crossing the road! There are a lot of trains here!
